The Investment Board of Nepal is gearing up for its third investment conference scheduled for Baishakh. Invitations have been extended to 17 major global investors, including prominent names like Mukesh Ambani and Elon Musk.
The Board has directly invited investors from countries such as India and China, while embassies are assisting in reaching out to approximately 2,000 more investors. The Nepali government has urged embassies worldwide to inform Nepali investors about the upcoming April 16 and 17 conference.
Notable personalities like Mark Zuckerberg, Mukesh Ambani, and Jack Ma have been personally invited to attend the conference. Discussions have been held with Chinese commercial envoys and investors to compile a list of Chinese investors to invite. Jack Ma, the renowned co-founder of Alibaba, visited Nepal last June.
A list of 115 projects, including airport facilities, expressways, and various development projects, will be presented at the conference. Agreements for about a dozen projects are expected to be signed during the event. The list includes a significant focus on hydropower projects, with proposals for numerous new ventures, including Upper Chameliya and Humla-Karnali hydroelectric projects. New projects include the construction of metro rails, additional expressways, and development projects announced in recent fiscal year budgets.
The investment conference presents a significant opportunity for Nepal to attract global investment and accelerate its economic development. With a diverse portfolio of projects and high-profile attendees, the event is poised to substantially impact Nepal’s financial landscape.
